The Developer

The Pestana Group was founded in 1972 and is currently the largest Portuguese tourism and leisure group, with interests including residential property, golf courses, hotels, pousadas and holiday ownership not only throughout Portugal but the rest of the world.

The companies in the Pestana Group are organised into seven business divisions: Hotels, Travel, Holiday Ownership, Golf & Real Estate, Pousadas, Industry and the International Business Centre.

The Pestana Group launched holiday ownership in Portugal over 20 years ago, and is now the third largest European group in this sector.

The Pestana Golf & Resorts division currently owns and operates five golf courses in Portugal – Gramacho, Vale da Pinta, Silves and Alto in the Algarve, and Beloura near Lisbon – together with a wide variety of associated property developments encompassing plots, villas, townhouses and apartments.

Pestana Hotels & Resorts meanwhile manages over 35 hotels in Portugal, Africa and South America, whilst Pousadas de Portugal manages over 40 historic properties offering accommodation to visitors.

At present there are over 6,000 people working within the Pestana Group.
